The Prime Minister Narendra Modi will dedicate the Samadhi of former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee to the nation on 25th Dec, 2018.
Titled ‘Sadaiv Atal‘, the Samadhi will be a befitting tribute to the visionary leader on his birth anniversary on Tuesday. The land for the Samadhi has been made available near Rajghat by the Government, although the land will continue to remain with the Government.
The Samadhi has been completed by Central Public Works Department at a total cost of Rs. 10.51 Crores. The entire cost of construction of the Samadhi has been borne by the Atal Smriti Nyas Society.
The founding members of the Society include Sumitra Mahajan, Lalji Tandon, O.P Kohli, Vajubhai Rudabhai Vala, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, Ram Lal Ji and Ram Bahadur Rai.
The main platform of the Samadhi has nine square black polished granite solid stone blocks, capped with a ‘diya’ in the center.
The Main Samadhi stone is monolithic zed black sourced from the best quarries of Khammam, Telangana.
The Samadhi has been completed by CPWD at a total cost of Rs. 10.51 Crores. The entire cost of construction of the Samadhi has been borne by the Atal Smriti Nyas Society.
To commemorate the birth anniversary of late prime minister, Modi has also released a special Rs 100 coin on Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee. On this occasion, the Prime Minister also said that Vajpayee’s voice remained the voice of the people. As a speaker, he was unparalleled. He is among the best orators our nation has produced, the Prime Minister added.
