Senior citizens in Tamil Nadu, who have been getting their pension through post offices, will have to furnish their Aadhaar card number at the respective post offices by the first week of August.

With a view to simplifying the procedure to secure life certificate of pensioners and disburse pension digitally, the Department of Posts has asked the pensioners in the state to submit a self-attested photocopy of Aadhaar card, along with pension payment order number, to the respective post offices from where they receive pension.


According to the government records, in the Chennai City Postal Region, various categories of pension are being paid to the retired employees of government/public sector organisation through 20 head post offices and sub-post offices.
