Chaitanya Prakash has been recommended for appointment as Director (Power) of NLC India Limited, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Coal. The recommendation was made by the Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) during its selection meeting held on June 9, 2026.

Currently serving as Executive Director (Operations) at Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), Prakash was selected from a pool of 11 candidates. The shortlisted candidates represented several major public sector enterprises, including NLC India, DVC, NTPC, BHEL and SAIL.
As Director (Power), Prakash will serve on the Board of Directors of NLC India and will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, expansion and commissioning of the company’s thermal power generation assets. The role also includes supervision of power station engineering activities and engagement with regulatory and statutory authorities. He will play a key role in driving operational efficiency and supporting the company’s power generation growth plans.

The PESB recommendation will now be forwarded to the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) for final approval. NLC India Limited is a diversified mining and power generation company engaged in lignite and coal mining as well as thermal and renewable energy production across multiple states.
