Ayodhya has added another landmark to its rapidly evolving urban and tourism landscape with the completion of a grand entrance gate complex on the Ayodhya-Lucknow route. Developed by the Uttar Pradesh Tourism Department, the project is expected to serve as a prominent gateway for devotees and tourists entering the holy city.

Constructed near Firozpur village at a cost of ₹20.20 crore, the gate complex has been designed to enhance the visual appeal of the city’s entrance while providing modern infrastructure and visitor-friendly facilities.
New Gateway to the Holy City

The project features two large entrance gates positioned on either side of the Ayodhya-Lucknow Highway, creating a striking arrival experience for visitors traveling to the city.

Designed to blend traditional architectural elements with modern infrastructure, the gates aim to reflect Ayodhya’s cultural and spiritual significance while supporting its emergence as a major tourism destination.
Officials say the development is part of the broader efforts to upgrade civic and tourism infrastructure in Ayodhya following the increasing influx of pilgrims and visitors.

Strengthening Tourism Infrastructure
The gate complex has been developed as more than just an architectural landmark. Alongside the entrance structures, several supporting infrastructure works have also been completed to improve convenience and accessibility.
These include road development, parking facilities, sewer networks, drainage systems and irrigation lines. The project is expected to improve traffic management and enhance the overall visitor experience on one of the key routes leading into the city.
The initiative aligns with ongoing efforts to strengthen Ayodhya’s tourism ecosystem and prepare the city for growing visitor numbers.
Modern Facilities Integrated into the Project
Special attention has been given to incorporating modern infrastructure and sustainability features within the complex.
The campus includes rainwater harvesting systems, firefighting infrastructure, internal electrification and environmental management facilities. Landscaped green areas and organised parking spaces have also been developed to improve the functionality and aesthetics of the site.
Officials noted that these features will help ensure efficient operations while promoting environmental sustainability.
Completed Ahead of Schedule
The project was executed by UP Projects Corporation Limited and completed ahead of its scheduled timeline.
Construction began in November 2023 and was completed by February 2026. Authorities are currently undertaking the final handover process before the facility becomes fully operational.
The timely completion of the project reflects the emphasis being placed on fast-tracking infrastructure development in Ayodhya.
Enhancing the City’s Identity
With Ayodhya witnessing significant transformation in recent years, the new gate complex is expected to become one of the city’s prominent visual landmarks.
The development aims to provide visitors with a memorable first impression while reinforcing the city’s identity as an important religious and cultural destination. Officials believe the project will contribute to Ayodhya’s growing profile as a modern pilgrimage and tourism hub equipped with contemporary amenities.
Boost for Local Economy
The improved infrastructure is also expected to generate economic benefits for the region.
As visitor numbers continue to rise, local businesses, hotels, transport operators and tourism-related services are likely to see increased activity. Improved accessibility and enhanced visitor facilities are expected to support broader economic opportunities linked to tourism growth.
A Step Towards a World-Class Tourism Destination
The completion of the gate complex marks another milestone in Ayodhya’s ongoing development journey. Combining cultural symbolism with modern infrastructure, the project reflects the city’s evolving character as it prepares to welcome larger numbers of devotees and tourists from across India and abroad.
