S Aparna, a 1998 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre has been appointed as Principal Secretary to Gujarat’s Chief Minister, Anandiben Patel. She earlier served as Principal Secretary (Economic Affairs) in the Finance Department, and Planning in the General Administration Department.
She is the first woman official to hold the key post in the CMO in the recent past. In her new stint, she will be replacing GC Murmu, a 1985 batch IAS officer of the same cadre, who has further taken charge as Joint Secretary (JS) in the Government of India (GoI), Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance.
