From now onwards, one can directly interact with government departments through SMS. ‘Mobile Seva’-a nationwide mobile-governance initiative has been taken by Department of Electronics and Information Technology ( DeitY) aiming to improve the availability of public services on mobile devices. According to official data, almost 833 central and state government departments are using ‘ Mobile Seva’ for providing SMS-based services. Not only that, over 55 crores SMS notifications have been sent to citizens for various mobile based services. As on date, 254 public services have been made available for the citizens. With the help of this, govt. departments are now well equipped to integrate both web and mobile based services effortlessly. It also increases the access to electronic services, especially in rural areas, where there are high penetration of mobile phones.

For the fluent working of ‘Mobile Seva’, DeitY has developed a mobile application Store ( m-App Store), which hosts over 240 live mobile applications. This can be downloaded and installed free of cost on a mobile phone. Mobile Seva enables the integration of the mobile platform with the common e-Governance infrastructure consisting of State Data Centers (SDCs), State Wide Area Networks (SWANs), State and National Service Delivery Gateways (SSDGs/NSDG). Availability of government-wide shared infrastructure and services enables rapid development and reduced costs for the departments in rolling out mobile based services.

So if you want to access govt. services, just take your mobile phone and avail the ‘Mobile Seva’ services.
