Ludhiyana traffic police will soon adapt e-challaning system to tame habitual offenders. The system will help police to streamline the process and identify habitual offenders. Mr. Ishwar Singh, Ludhiana police commissioner said the system would first begin on trial basis. A non-government organization is partnered with the police in this project which would provide a tablet and a printer to the cops.
Mr Singh said the tablet would be connected to the server through wireless internet for database access. “If the testing succeeds, we shall send a proposal to the state government to arrange for more equipment,” he added.
Mr. Sunil Saini, who is assisting police in this initiative, said, “The traffic cop would use a software installed on the tablet to issue the challan. A copy of the online challan would be printed using a Bluetooth printer paired with the tablet.”
