Abdurahim Ahmed, Communication Affairs Division Manager, said ETC has set to install sufficient telecommunications infrastructure with a view to narrowing the economic rift between the rural and urban population. This rural connectivity project would provide telephone services to nearly 15,000 rural kebeles, thus reducing the 50-kms average distance rural communities travel to get telecom service to 10-kms. The manager said 17,500 customers have so far benefited from broadband Internet services. The corporation has made telephone services accessible to all most all the schools in Ethiopia.
