India expects to collect INR 350 billion from the auction of third-generation (3G) radio spectrum, scheduled to happen by December this year. The auction would allow telecoms firms to offer services such as high-speed Internet and video downloads on mobile phones. The government had initially aimed to get INR 200 billion.
C-DAC was given the mandate and privilege to take the initiative for aggregating a minimal set of Indian language software tools and fonts in all the 22 languages and release them free in the next couple of years
