The India-Tanzania Centre of Excellence (CoE)was recently inaugurated in Tanzania recently. It has been implemented by city-based Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC). The CoE will offer diploma and certificate courses targeted towards students from varied backgrounds who aspire to make a successful career in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry.

The CoE was inaugurated by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in Dar Es Salaam. The aim of the centre is to promote ICT in Tanzania, a statement released by the C-DAC said.

Rajan T Joseph, Director General, C-DAC, said, “The 'Param' super-computing facility set up by the C-DAC is being used extensively for scientific and research programmes, in addition to being a national data centre. This is a citizen-centric approach which looks at technology as an empowering tool for development. As the face of technology evolves, nations must learn to embrace the latest breakthroughs to be able to stand on their own in this field.”
