MP’s e-Governance Initiative bags National Award

Madhya Pradesh (MP) Forest Department has bagged the National e- Governance silver medal for its Fire Alert and Message System (FAMS). The award will be given away at the 12th National Conference on e- Governance in Goa on February 12, 2009, by the Information and Technology Department of Government of India.
Fire Alert and Message System is being widely used for conservation and protection of forests in MP, and even the villagers are aware of this System. The MP Forest Department has linked all its territorial and wildlife branches with 460 ranges via internet at the data centres. As many as 52 centres have been set up in remote areas with the help of Edu-sat system of ISRO for providing training in IT to the staffers and officers of the forest department.
