
The Punjab government carried out a major reshuffle on Tuesday, transferring 16 officers from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and 13 officers from the Punjab Civil Services (PCS). The transfers have been implemented with immediate effect, marking a strategic shift in key bureaucratic positions.
According to an official order, Mr. Priyank Bharti, an IAS officer, has assumed the role of Secretary at the Public Works Department. Concurrently, Mr. D P S Kharbanda will take charge as Secretary of Technical Education and Industrial Training, while also assuming the responsibilities of Chief Executive Officer at the Punjab Bureau of Investment Promotion.
In another move, Mr. Amarpal Singh has been entrusted with the critical role of Chief Executive at the Punjab Energy Development Agency, aiming to bolster the state’s energy infrastructure. Meanwhile, Mr. Varinder Kumar Sharma, currently serving as Special Secretary for Home Affairs, has been given additional responsibility as Director of Tourism and Cultural Affairs.
Ms. Deepti Uppal’s new position is Joint Managing Director cum Chief Executive Officer at the Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company, signifying the government’s emphasis on urban development. Joining her, Ms. Shena Aggarwal will assume the role of Special Secretary for Social Security and Women & Child Development.

Mr. Sanyam Aggarwal is now appointed as the Special Secretary for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, and Ms. Baldeep Kaur will serve as the Special Secretary for Personnel. She will also take on the additional charges of Special Secretary for Vigilance and Managing Director at Punjab Small Industries and Export Corporation.

In district-level assignments, Mr. Sandeep Kumar has taken on the position of Deputy Commissioner at Tarn Taran, and Mr. Abhijeet Kapilash is now the Director of Mines and Geology.

Further enhancing administrative capacities, Mr. Sandeep Rishi assumes the role of Municipal Commissioner at Ludhiana, while Mr. Amit Kumar Panchal is appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner in Phagwara.
Among the PCS officers, officers such as Mr. Paramdeep Singh, Ms. Rajdeep Kaur, Mr. Rakesh Kumar Popli, and Ms. Jyoti Bala have been reshuffled to new assignments, signifying the government’s intention to leverage expertise across various domains for optimal governance.
This comprehensive shuffle underscores the government’s commitment to promoting effective governance, enhancing sectoral expertise, and facilitating balanced development across Punjab.
