According to a new index compiled by the United Nations, India lags way behind in readiness for electronic commerce. India has been ranked 83^rd out of 130 countries on a new index compiled by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development’s (UNCTAD).

The UNCTAD’s new Business-to-Consumer (B2C) e-commerce – businesses selling to the general public – index, ranks the countries on four indicators of internet use, secure servers, credit card penetration and postal delivery services.

 “After the US, China and the UK, India has the fourth largest number of complaints made against companies selling online,” said UNCTAD.

The top four countries with highest readiness for electronic commerce are Luxembourg, followed by Norway, Finland and Canada.
