Residents of UT districts can soon file a case in the UT district courts through e-Mail. The court will be the second in the order, after the Supreme Court offered this service.

Presently, the advocate of the presenting party will file a case. Once the case is filed, the court informs the counsel concerned about the case number and the court where it will come up for hearing. Once the new facility will become functional, an individual who want to file a case in the District Court will have to type the details of the case and e-Mail it to an online address available on the UT District Courts website. Once a case has been filed, a 16 digit unique number will be allocated to the case. With this number, the litigant will be able to keep a track of the case status. The District Court and the National Informatics Centre are working on the idea which was mooted by the Supreme Court's e-Governance committee. The NIC has already made an arrangement for a “Status of Filing” link under the “Services” head on the website: www.chddistrictcourts.gov.in
