The Punjab Government has undertaken a fresh administrative reshuffle, transferring 34 officers, including four Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers and 30 Punjab Civil Services (PCS) officers, as part of its efforts to strengthen district-level governance and improve administrative efficiency across the state.

The latest postings primarily focus on key positions such as Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADCs) and Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), which play a critical role in implementing government schemes, monitoring development projects and delivering citizen services.

Focus on Strengthening District Administration

Officials said the reshuffle is aimed at enhancing governance at the grassroots level by placing officers in strategic field assignments across districts.

District administrations serve as the primary interface between citizens and the government, handling responsibilities related to revenue administration, welfare programmes, public grievances, law and order coordination and rural development initiatives. The latest transfers are expected to improve coordination and administrative responsiveness in these areas.

IAS Officers Assigned Key District Roles

Among the IAS officers transferred, Devy Goyal (IAS: 2022) has been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), Sri Muktsar Sahib. He has also been entrusted with the additional charge of Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), further expanding his responsibilities in the district administration.

Kritika Goyal (IAS: 2023) has been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), Mansa. In her new role, she will oversee rural development programmes and monitor the implementation of welfare initiatives in the district.

Aditya Sharma (IAS: 2023) has been appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Tarn Taran. His responsibilities will include administrative coordination, supervision of government programmes and oversight of district-level governance activities.

Pallavi Mishra (IAS: 2023) has been posted as Additional Deputy Commissioner (General), Amritsar. As one of Punjab‘s key districts, Amritsar requires close coordination across multiple departments, and her role will involve handling a wide range of administrative and developmental matters.

PCS Officers Receive New Assignments

Alongside the IAS officers, the government has transferred 30 PCS officers and assigned them to various positions across the state.

Many of these officers have been posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrates and Additional Deputy Commissioners in different districts. These assignments are expected to strengthen field administration and support the effective implementation of government policies at the local level.

Officials noted that SDMs and ADCs play a vital role in public service delivery, revenue management, disaster response, election-related work and monitoring of developmental projects.

Enhancing Governance and Service Delivery

The reshuffle reflects the government’s continued emphasis on improving administrative efficiency and ensuring better coordination between state departments and district administrations.

By deploying officers across key field positions, the government aims to accelerate development initiatives, improve delivery of public services and strengthen institutional accountability.

Administrative experts point out that periodic transfers help bring new perspectives to governance, encourage innovation in service delivery and ensure that officers gain experience across different sectors and regions.

Supporting Development Priorities

The newly appointed officers will be responsible for overseeing a range of government programmes related to rural development, welfare schemes, infrastructure projects and public administration.

With the transfers now announced, the officers are expected to assume charge of their new assignments in the coming days. Officials believe the reshuffle will help reinforce administrative capacity at the district and sub-divisional levels and support the state’s broader development and governance objectives.
