He succeeds Varun Roojam (IAS), who has been relieved of this additional charge. The position of Principal Resident Commissioner plays a critical role in ensuring coordination and liaison between the Punjab State Government and the Union Administration.

At the state civil services level, Anand Sagar Sharma (PCS, 2012 batch) has been transferred from his post as Joint Secretary (Social Security) and appointed as Additional Deputy Commissioner (Rural Development), Gurdaspur.
