The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved a one-year extension in the central deputation tenure of Pushpendra Rajput, an IAS officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre (1999 batch), who is currently serving as Joint Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare.

According to an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), the extension will take effect beyond November 29, 2025, and will remain valid for a period of one year or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

The approval follows a proposal submitted by the Department of Health and Family Welfare, which referred to its office memorandum dated January 16, 2026. The DoPT order granting the extension was formally issued on February 6, 2026.

Pushpendra Rajput has been handling key administrative and policy responsibilities in the Health Ministry, where continuity in senior leadership is considered important for the effective implementation of national health programmes and smooth inter-ministerial coordination. His continued presence is expected to provide stability to ongoing initiatives and policy processes within the ministry.

The order has been communicated to the Department of Health and Family Welfare, the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretariat, the Government of Himachal Pradesh, and the officer concerned, among other authorities. The directive was issued with the approval of the competent authority and signed by Sakshi Mittal, Director, DoPT.

The extension reflects the ACC’s confidence in Rajput’s experience and contribution, underscoring the role of seasoned officers on central deputation in maintaining policy momentum and administrative continuity in critical ministries such as health.
