Maharashtra Transfers 4 Senior IAS Officers; Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar Named Rural Development Secretary

The Maharashtra government has carried out another administrative reshuffle, transferring four senior IAS officers and assigning them to key positions across departments and regional administrations. The latest changes impact important offices in Pune, Nagpur and state departments, reflecting the government’s continuing efforts to strengthen governance and administrative coordination.

The reshuffle brings fresh leadership to roles linked to rural development, sports administration, urban governance and regional administration.

Key IAS Appointments Announced

As part of the latest transfers, several officers have been assigned new responsibilities:

  • Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar (IAS: 2008) – Appointed as Secretary, Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department, Ministry, Mumbai
  • Sheetal Teli-Ugale (IAS: 2009) – Appointed Divisional Commissioner, Pune Division
  • Deepak Singla (IAS: 2012) – Appointed Commissioner, Sports and Youth Services
  • Muruganantham M. (IAS: 2020) – Appointed Additional Municipal Commissioner, Nagpur Municipal Corporation

The changes are expected to strengthen departmental functioning and bring administrative continuity across key regions.

Pune Division Gets New Administrative Leadership

Senior IAS officer Dr. Chandrakant Pulkundwar, who was serving as Divisional Commissioner of Pune, has now been moved to Mumbai as Secretary in the Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Department.

During his tenure in Pune, he handled several important administrative and development responsibilities across the division.

Replacing him, Sheetal Teli-Ugale has been appointed as the new Divisional Commissioner of Pune. She previously served in the Sports and Youth Services Directorate and now takes charge of one of Maharashtra’s key administrative regions.

Sports Department Sees New Leadership

Following Sheetal Teli-Ugale’s transfer, Deepak Singla has been appointed as Commissioner of Sports and Youth Services.

The department oversees sports promotion, youth initiatives and athletic infrastructure development across the state, making the position important for Maharashtra’s sports ecosystem.

Nagpur Administration Gets New Appointment

Muruganantham M., who was earlier serving as Chief Executive Officer of Gondia Zilla Parishad, has now been appointed Additional Municipal Commissioner of Nagpur Municipal Corporation.

The appointment is considered significant given Nagpur’s importance as one of Maharashtra’s major urban and administrative centres.

Focus on Governance and Administrative Efficiency

Maharashtra has witnessed several bureaucratic reshuffles in recent months as the government continues to reposition officers across strategic departments and administrative units.
