National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT)

New Delhi, 27 April 2025 — In a significant move to accelerate the Digital India vision, the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) has entered into Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with eight leading organisations. The MoUs, signed on 25th April 2025 at Electronics Niketan in New Delhi, aim to foster innovation, research, skilling, and education in emerging technologies.

The event, attended by key officials, was graced by Sh. S. Krishnan, Secretary of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY). It marks a momentous collaboration between NIELIT and a diverse array of institutions, signalling a significant push towards strengthening the country’s digital infrastructure.

The organisations involved in these strategic collaborations include Semiconductor Laboratory (SCL), ERNET India, National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE), Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, SKYROOT Aerospace, Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR), Kyndryl India, and the Heartfulness Institute. These partnerships are geared toward advancing research, education, training, and capacity building, particularly in the domains of Electronics, IT, and emerging technologies.

The areas of collaboration include joint research projects, curriculum development, capacity building initiatives, and skilling programs designed to enhance India’s technological expertise and support the Digital India agenda. These initiatives will focus on developing a workforce that is adept at leveraging the latest innovations in technology.


Sh. S. Krishnan, Secretary of MeitY, emphasised the importance of such collaborations for the growth of a digital economy. He stated, “This is a strategic convergence of academia, industry, and government institutions to foster a robust digital ecosystem. Such collaborations are vital to shaping a digitally empowered society and a thriving knowledge economy.”

In his address, Sh. Krishnan also lauded the efforts of Dr. M. M. Tripathi, Director General of NIELIT, and the entire NIELIT team for their leadership in forging these partnerships, which aim to bridge the gap between academic institutions and industry requirements. He noted that these collaborations will ensure the development of a future-ready workforce, equipped with high-quality education and practical skills to meet industry needs.

The signing ceremony was attended by several distinguished dignitaries, including Ms. Preeti Nath, Economic Adviser, MeitY; Dr. M. M. Tripathi, DG, NIELIT; Ms. Tulika Pandey, Scientist G & Group Coordinator, MeitY; Dr. Kamaljeet Singh, DG, SCL; Sh. Sanjeev Bansal, DG, ERNET India; Ms. Girija Mukund, Director CSR & ESG, Kyndryl India; Dr. Krishnashree Achuthan, Dean & Director, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham; Dr. C. V. S. Kiran, VP, Skyroot Aerospace; Dr. Mohammad Rihan, DG, NISE; and Dr. Narsi Reddy, Director, Heartfulness Institute.

NIELIT, an autonomous body under MeitY, is committed to promoting education, training, and research in Electronics, IT, and emerging technologies. With 56 centers across India and a vast network of over 700 Accredited Training Partners, NIELIT plays a pivotal role in developing skilled manpower for India’s growing digital economy. The institute also serves as the National Examination Body for accrediting institutions conducting non-formal courses in IT and Electronics.
