About the recruitment

Karnataka Examinations Authority has released Advertisement No. ED/KEA/40/Ne.Vi/2026 (KK) inviting applications for 31 posts spread across 6 roles. The positions are Assistant Town Planner (14 posts), Junior Engineer (Civil) under the Karnataka Housing Board (5 posts), Junior Engineer (Civil) under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (4 posts), Junior Engineer (Mines and Geology) (4 posts), Junior Engineer (Civil) under Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (3 posts), and Junior Engineer (Civil) under the Agricultural Marketing Department (1 post).

All posts carry a pay scale of Rs. 54,175 to Rs. 99,400 and are reserved for the Kalyana-Karnataka local cadre. Selected candidates will serve a two-year probation period.

Eligibility

Applicants must be Indian citizens, aged between 18 and 40 years for General Merit candidates. The upper age limit is 43 years for Category 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B, and 45 years for SC, ST and Category-1 candidates. Additional age relaxations apply to several other categories as specified in the official notification.

The minimum educational qualification for most posts is a Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognised institution. For the Assistant Town Planner post, a Diploma in Civil Engineering (General) or a Diploma in Civil Engineering (Draftsmanship) is also accepted. For the Greater Bengaluru Authority Junior Engineer post, a three-year diploma in Civil Engineering (General), Draftsmanship, Architectural, or Architectural Assistantship (C-20 syllabus) qualifies. Training in AutoCAD is a desirable preference for the Greater Bengaluru Authority Junior Engineer role.

All required qualifications and certificates must be held by the last date for submitting applications. Candidates awaiting results of their qualifying examination are not eligible.

Selection process

Selection will be through a competitive examination consisting of Paper-1 and Paper-2, both conducted offline using OMR answer sheets with objective multiple-choice questions and four answer options. A minimum of 35% marks is required to qualify, and 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer. Candidates must also appear for a qualifying Kannada Language Test (maximum 150 marks, minimum 50 marks required), unless exempted; marks from this test do not count towards the final merit.

Final selection is based on the percentage of total marks in the competitive examination, followed by online counselling with option entry, document verification, and preparation of provisional and final selection lists. In the event of a tie in marks, the older candidate ranks higher; if age is also equal, higher marks in the qualifying examination are the deciding factor.

How to apply

Applications must be submitted online on or before 26 November 2026. The application fee is Rs. 750 for General Merit and Category 2A, 2B, 3A and 3B candidates; Rs. 500 for SC, ST, Category-1, Ex-servicemen and Third gender candidates; and Rs. 250 for Persons with disabilities. Fee payment must be completed online by 27 November 2026.

Candidates should read all eligibility instructions carefully before filling in the application. The correct RD number must be entered when claiming any reservation. No information can be changed after submission, so all details should be verified before final submission. Reservation not claimed at the time of application cannot be added later.

At the time of document verification, candidates must produce original marks cards, qualification certificates, caste or reservation certificate (with RD number), relevant rural candidate forms where applicable, Kannada medium certificate for Classes 1 to 10, and a valid photo identity document at the examination centre along with the admit card. Candidates should follow all instructions given in the official notification issued by Karnataka Examinations Authority.
