The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has approved the four-laning of the National Highway-62 (NH-62) stretch between Nagaur and Bikaner in Rajasthan. The project will be implemented on a Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT-Toll) basis at an estimated cost of ₹1,359.33 crore.


According to state government officials, the project is aimed at strengthening road infrastructure and enhancing connectivity across western Rajasthan. The upgraded highway is expected to improve travel efficiency, facilitate smoother movement of goods and passengers, and support economic activity in the region.

The four-lane corridor is also expected to provide a boost to industrial development, tourism and investment by improving access to key destinations in Nagaur, Bikaner and adjoining districts. Officials said the improved road network could contribute to employment generation during both the construction and operational phases.


The approval marks another step in the expansion of Rajasthan’s transport infrastructure. While the Ministry has cleared the project, details regarding the construction schedule, bidding process and selection of the concessionaire are yet to be announced. Officials said further planning and procurement activities will be undertaken in accordance with the approved project framework.
