Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency Limited (IREDA) has appointed Dr Bijay Kumar Mohanty as its Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) with effect from July 1, 2026, following the superannuation of Pradip Kumar Das.

The appointment has been made by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE), ensuring continuity in the leadership of the Navratna public sector enterprise, which plays a key role in financing India’s renewable energy projects.

Leadership Change at IREDA

Pradip Kumar Das demitted office as CMD on June 30, 2026, after attaining the age of superannuation. The company informed the stock exchanges about the change in leadership in compliance with SEBI’s Listing Obligations and Disclosure Requirements (LODR) Regulations.

Additional Charge for Three Months

Dr Mohanty, who is currently serving as Director (Finance) and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of IREDA, will hold the additional charge of CMD for a period of three months from the date of assuming office or until the appointment of a regular Chairman and Managing Director, whichever is earlier.

The interim arrangement is aimed at ensuring the smooth functioning of the organisation during the transition period.

Dr Bijay Kumar Mohanty brings more than 27 years of experience in India’s power and energy sector.

Before joining IREDA, he held senior leadership positions at REC Power Development and Consultancy Limited and REC Limited, where he gained extensive experience in project financing, financial management and infrastructure development.
