In a major infrastructure push, the Rajasthan government has approved 77 road construction and upgradation projects worth ₹676.74 crore across more than 33 districts of the state. The projects, sanctioned by the Public Works Department (PWD), are aimed at strengthening connectivity, improving road safety, and accelerating economic development in both rural and urban areas.
The approved works will cover a total road length of 686.42 kilometres and form part of the state government’s commitment to enhancing transport infrastructure under the 2026–27 Budget.
Major Road Development Works Approved
The sanctioned projects include a mix of new road construction, widening of existing roads, pavement strengthening, and improvement of rural connectivity routes.
The works will cover:
- State Highways (SH)
- Major District Roads (MDRs)
- Other District Roads (ODRs)
- Rural roads and connectivity corridors
Officials said the projects are designed to improve travel efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and provide better access to markets, healthcare facilities, educational institutions, and public services.

The large-scale road development programme will benefit several districts across Rajasthan, including:

- Banswara
- Baran
- Bharatpur
- Balotra
- Bundi
- Churu
- Dausa
- Deeg
- Dungarpur
- Didwana-Kuchaman
- Jalore
- Jhunjhunu
- Jodhpur
- Karauli
- Kotputli
- Nagaur
- Pali
- Phalodi
- Pratapgarh
- Sawai Madhopur
- Sikar
- Sri Ganganagar
- Salumbar
- Sirohi
- Udaipur
along with several other districts covered under the approved package.
Focus on Connectivity and Economic Growth
Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma has repeatedly emphasized the importance of quality road infrastructure in driving economic growth and improving public convenience. The latest approvals are being viewed as a major step toward strengthening connectivity from remote villages to district headquarters and urban centres.
Officials noted that improved road networks are expected to support agriculture, trade, tourism and industrial activities while enhancing mobility for residents across the state.
Boost for Rural and Tribal Regions
A significant portion of the approved projects focuses on improving connectivity in rural, tribal and geographically challenging areas. Better road infrastructure is expected to reduce travel time, improve access to government services and create new economic opportunities for local communities.
The initiative is also expected to facilitate smoother movement of goods and services, benefiting farmers, traders and small businesses.
Budget Announcement Moves Towards Implementation
The road projects were announced as part of the Rajasthan Budget 2026–27, where infrastructure development was identified as a key priority area. With administrative approval now granted, the government has moved forward with implementation plans.
