Lucknow: The Uttar Pradesh AI & Health Innovation Conference 2026, held on 12–13 January 2026 in Lucknow, brought together policymakers, healthcare professionals, industry leaders, startups, and technology experts to deliberate on the transformative role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare and public service delivery. During the inaugural session, Shri Anurag Yadav, IAS, Principal Secretary, Information Technology and Electronics Department (IT & Electronics), Government of Uttar Pradesh, highlighted the growing significance of AI in addressing healthcare challenges and driving large-scale development outcomes.

Addressing the gathering, Anurag Yadav emphasised that technological innovation, particularly AI, has the potential to become a key enabler in building a healthier and more future-ready society. He noted that improving public health remains one of the most critical priorities in achieving broader developmental goals and strengthening the nation’s progress.

Referring to the conference as an important platform for dialogue and collaboration, he highlighted the participation of policymakers, startups, industry experts, and healthcare professionals who came together to explore practical AI-driven solutions. The objective, he said, was to identify actionable ideas that could be translated into scalable initiatives and policy frameworks.

Discussing the challenges associated with public healthcare delivery at scale, he underlined the need for solutions that can address issues related to accessibility, speed, and efficiency. According to him, AI can help bridge these gaps by enabling systems that operate with greater scale, faster response capabilities, and cost efficiency.

He further stressed the importance of moving beyond conceptual discussions and ensuring that deliberations lead to measurable outcomes. The two-day conference, he noted, was designed not only to encourage conversations around emerging technologies but also to create a roadmap for implementation and future policy development.

The event witnessed participation from senior government officials, healthcare leaders, technology experts, researchers, startups, and industry representatives, creating a platform for knowledge sharing and collaborative thinking.

The conference reinforced Uttar Pradesh’s focus on leveraging AI and digital technologies to strengthen healthcare systems, improve service delivery, and create a more inclusive and innovation-driven ecosystem for the future.
