Akshat Jain, IAS

Bhopal/Rewa: The Madhya Pradesh government has appointed 2019-batch IAS officer Akshat Jain as Municipal Commissioner of Rewa as part of a recent administrative reshuffle aimed at streamlining governance across districts.

Jain takes charge from Sanjay Sonawane, who has been posted as Collector of Betul following the April 9 reshuffle. The post in Rewa had remained vacant after Sonawane’s transfer.

Before this appointment, Jain was serving as Chief Executive Officer of Zila Panchayat, Betul, since July 2023. During his tenure, he handled rural development programmes and district-level administration, experience that is expected to be relevant in managing urban civic issues in Rewa.

Akshat Jain secured All India Rank 2 in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2018 and belongs to the Madhya Pradesh cadre of the 2019 batch. He graduated in Design Engineering from IIT Guwahati. He had missed selection in his first attempt by a narrow margin before securing a top rank in his next attempt.
