Uttar Pradesh Budget

The Uttar Pradesh Government on Wednesday (February 11, 2026) presented a record ₹9.12 lakh crore Budget for the financial year 2026–27 in the State Assembly, with a strong focus on education, health, agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial growth.


Presenting the budget, Suresh Kumar Khanna, Finance Minister, said the total outlay of ₹9,12,696.35 crore is the largest ever budget of the state and is 12.9% higher than the previous year. He said the budget reflects Uttar Pradesh’s growing economic strength while laying out a clear roadmap for long-term fiscal stability and sustainable development.

Sector-Wise Focus


The budget allocates 12.4% for education, six percent for health and medical services, and nine percent for agriculture and allied services, underlining the government’s emphasis on human development and rural prosperity.


“This budget reflects the state’s growing economic capacity, an investment-friendly environment, and strong fiscal management. Development, financial discipline, and future preparedness have been given equal importance,” the Finance Minister said while presenting the budget.

Infrastructure and Capital Expenditure


A major thrust has been given to infrastructure, with 19.5% of the budget earmarked for capital expenditure, aimed at accelerating development in roads, energy, industrial growth, and urban-rural infrastructure.

A provision of ₹27,103 crore has been proposed for infrastructure and industrial development schemes. For road connectivity, ₹34,468 crore has been allocated for construction and widening of roads and bridges to improve safety and travel efficiency.

Industry, Investment and Employment

To promote industrial growth, ₹5,000 crore has been proposed for the Mukhyamantri Industrial Area Expansion and New Industrial Area Promotion Scheme. Under the Swami Vivekanand Yuva Sashaktikaran Yojana, ₹2,374 crore has been allocated for distribution of tablets and smartphones.

The budget also proposes ₹100 crore for the implementation of the Incentive Policy-2023 aimed at Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and investments from Fortune 500 companies. In the Defence Industrial Corridor project, MoUs have been signed for 200 defence industries, expected to bring ₹35,280 crore in investment and generate direct employment for around 53,263 people.

Health and Medical Education

For medical education, a provision of ₹14,997 crore has been proposed. Uttar Pradesh currently has 81 medical colleges, including 45 state-run and 36 private institutions. An amount of ₹1,023 crore has been allocated for the establishment and operation of 14 new medical colleges.

Additionally, ₹315 crore has been proposed for the Cancer Institute, Lucknow, while ₹130 crore has been earmarked to provide free medical treatment for incurable diseases. For medical, health and family welfare, ₹37,956 crore has been allocated, along with ₹500 crore for the Chief Minister Jan Arogya Yojana.

Tourism and Agriculture Push

To promote religious tourism, ₹150 crore has been proposed for tourism infrastructure development in the Ayodhya region, aimed at boosting employment and strengthening the local economy.

In agriculture, ₹637.84 crore has been allocated for converting diesel pump sets into solar pumps to reduce costs for farmers and promote clean energy. In view of the United Nations declaring 2026 as the International Women Farmers Year, the government has decided to create a ₹150 crore corpus under the Revolving Fund Scheme for Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in collaboration with NABARD’s participating institution Naib Kisan. The government will contribute ₹75 crore, with eligible FPOs receiving credit limits of up to ₹50 lakh.

CM’s Vision for Developed Uttar Pradesh

Reacting to the budget, Yogi Adityanath, Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, said the budget would prove to be a milestone in building a developed state.

“The Budget (Financial Year 2026–27) presented today is a vivid glimpse of the ‘New Uttar Pradesh’. In line with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this budget of more than ₹9,12,000 crores will give fresh impetus to public aspirations, employment generation, investment expansion, farmer welfare, women’s empowerment and respect,” he said.

The Chief Minister expressed confidence that the public welfare-oriented budget would help establish Uttar Pradesh as a $1 trillion economy by 2029–30, contributing significantly to the broader goal of a developed India.
