The Delhi Government is set to strengthen the capital’s public transport network with the introduction of 300 new air-conditioned electric buses from July 4, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta announced on Sunday. The initiative is part of the government’s broader plan to promote clean mobility, reduce pollution and improve public transportation across the city.

The Chief Minister also announced that the government will launch a mega plantation drive on July 7, under which 70 lakh saplings will be planted across Delhi to enhance green cover and improve the city’s environment.
300 New E-Buses to Join Delhi’s Public Transport Fleet

Announcing the initiative during a series of ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Sammelan’ events, Rekha Gupta said the new electric buses will provide commuters with cleaner, more comfortable and environmentally friendly travel options.

She said the government is committed to building a world-class public transport system while reducing vehicular emissions and promoting sustainable urban mobility.

The induction of the new fleet is expected to further strengthen Delhi’s transition towards electric public transportation.
Mega Plantation Drive to Begin on July 7
Alongside the transport initiative, the Chief Minister unveiled plans for a large-scale plantation campaign aimed at improving Delhi’s ecological balance.
Under the drive, nearly 70 lakh saplings will be planted across different parts of the city. The campaign is expected to support efforts to improve air quality, expand green spaces and encourage public participation in environmental conservation.
Focus on Development and Sustainable Governance
Speaking at public events held in Pitampura, West Enclave in Shakurbasti and Mahalaxmi Vihar in Mustafabad, Rekha Gupta highlighted the government’s focus on infrastructure development, environmental protection and improved civic services.
She said several development projects are progressing across all Assembly constituencies, covering roads, drinking water supply, sewer networks, schools and hospitals.

The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing national initiatives related to water conservation, environmental sustainability and the promotion of local products.
