Bhopal: In a significant administrative overhaul, the Madhya Pradesh government on Sunday carried out a large-scale reshuffle of the state bureaucracy, transferring 26 Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers across key departments.
The transfer orders were issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) under the direction of Chief Secretary Anurag Jain. The reshuffle, announced on a public holiday, reflects the urgency and strategic importance attached to the changes.
The move came just ahead of Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav’s visit to Davos, underscoring the government’s intent to reorganise its administrative machinery before embarking on important international engagements.
Shiv Shekhar Shukla Appointed Chairman, Revenue Board
One of the most notable changes in the reshuffle is the appointment of Shiv Shekhar Shukla (1994 batch IAS) as Chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Revenue Board.
Shukla has been relieved of his additional responsibilities as Additional Chief Secretary in the Culture and Tourism, Religious Trusts and Endowments, and Home departments. His new posting is seen as a major administrative shift at the senior-most level.
Umakant Umrao Retains Key Role
Senior IAS officer Umakant Umrao (1996 batch) has been relieved from the Mineral Resources Department but will continue as Principal Secretary, Animal Husbandry and Dairy Development Department, ensuring continuity in a crucial sector.
New Posting for Dilip Yadav

Meanwhile, Kshitij Singhal (2014 batch) has taken over as the new Commissioner of Indore Municipal Corporation.

Their postings are expected to strengthen health administration and improve service delivery at the ground level.

Focus on Better Governance
Officials say the reshuffle is part of a broader strategy to improve governance efficiency, speed up decision-making, and ensure better implementation of development schemes.
