Namma Yatri has launched a new in-app feature, Namma Transit, on July 25 to revolutionise how Bengaluru navigates public transport. Aimed at making daily commutes smoother, greener, faster, and more affordable, the feature acts as a personal transit assistant—guiding users in real-time from doorstep to destination.

Namma Transit provides step-by-step route planning, directing users on which metro station to enter, which gate and platform to use, and when to switch between metro, auto, or cab. Real-time alerts include train arrivals, station exits, and timely reminders for disembarkation. This intelligent assistant transforms the public transport experience into a seamless journey.

The feature follows the successful integration of Bengaluru’s public transport network into the Namma Yatri and Tummoc apps, a move catalysed by their victory in a mobility innovation challenge conducted by Mercedes-Benz R&D India (MBRDI), WRI, and Villgro, with support from BMTC and BMRCL.

To support this innovation, Namma Yatri has integrated Juspay’s KV Framework, a distributed key-value store built on Redis, enhancing real-time data processing, scalability, and reducing infrastructure costs.

Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya, who attended the launch, emphasised the need to reduce private vehicle use: “Public transport must become the preferred option. Expanding Metro and electrifying last-mile solutions are key

“Namma Transit is designed to make public transport the first choice—not a last resort,” said co-founders Magizhan Selvan and Shan MS.

Alongside the launch, the company introduced the ‘MadeForBLR: Namma Mobility Blueprint 2030’—a 10-point roadmap that envisions 70% of trips via public transport, a 50% reduction in commute time and emissions, and improved first and last-mile connectivity. The blueprint calls on citizens, employers, government, and the market to collaborate in building a sustainable, inclusive, and multimodal mobility ecosystem.
