Govt. of Maharashtra & IIT Mumbai sign MoU

In a significant step towards strengthening public policy capacity among young professionals, the Government of Maharashtra has partnered with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to offer a Post Graduate Diploma in Public Policy under the Chief Minister’s Fellowship Programme. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed and exchanged between the Planning Department of the Government of Maharashtra and IIT Bombay, with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis presiding over the event.

The newly launched academic collaboration aims to provide CM Fellows with advanced knowledge, tools, and methodologies to critically understand and effectively address public policy challenges. Through this rigorous diploma programme, fellows will be equipped with core competencies in public policy formulation, analysis, and implementation—preparing them to contribute meaningfully to governance and development.

The MoU exchange ceremony witnessed the presence of Prof. Shireesh Kedare, Director of IIT Bombay, Prof. Milind Atre, Deputy Director, and senior officials from the Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Maharashtra, among others. The initiative is a milestone in bridging academia and governance, and reflects the state’s commitment to empowering future policymakers through structured learning.
