Maharashtra Govt Transfers 8 Senior IPS Officers; Sharada Raut Appointed Special IGP of Newly Formed Anti-Narcotics Task Force

In a significant administrative reshuffle, the Maharashtra government has transferred eight senior IPS officers, underscoring its ongoing efforts to strengthen the state’s policing and law enforcement machinery. The move comes in the wake of continued bureaucratic changes following the change in state leadership.

One of the most notable appointments is that of 2005 batch IPS officer Sharada Raut, who has been named Special Inspector General of Police (IGP) for the newly constituted Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF). Sharada Raut previously served as Joint Commissioner in the State Intelligence Department (SID) and has recently returned from Central deputation at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Her appointment signals the state’s intensified focus on curbing drug trafficking and substance abuse.

The ANTF was formally approved by the Maharashtra Cabinet in February, with the creation of 346 new posts, indicating a major policy push towards enhancing anti-narcotics operations and enforcement across the state.

In another key appointment, Ravindra Shisve, a 2002 batch officer who previously served as Commissioner of Railway Police, Mumbai, has been posted as Joint Commissioner, SID, replacing Sharada Raut.

Other significant postings include:

  • Supriya Patil Yadav (2004 batch), recently back from Central deputation, has been appointed Special IGP (Establishment) at the Maharashtra Police Headquarters.
  • Navinchandra Reddy, Commissioner of Police in Amravati City, has been posted as Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur. His replacement is awaited.
  • Nisar Tamboli, Joint Commissioner of Police, Nagpur, has been appointed Special IGP, State Reserve Police Force (SRPF), Nagpur, replacing Rajiv Jain.
  • Rajiv Jain will now serve as Special IGP, Coastal Security (Maritime).
  • Abhishek Trimukhe, Additional CP (North Region), Mumbai, is transferred as Special IGP (Administration) at the state police headquarters.
  • Dr Arti Singh, 2006 batch IPS officer and current Special IGP (Administration), has been relieved from her post and is awaiting her next assignment.
