The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved the appointment of Captain Jagmohan (Retd.) as the new Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited (MDL), a premier Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence.

Currently serving as Director (Corporate Planning, Projects and Business Development) at Goa Shipyard Limited (GSL), Captain Jagmohan brings with him a distinguished career spanning over 25 years in the Indian Navy and extensive experience in shipbuilding and naval design.

The official appointment, approved on April 17 by the ACC based on the proposal submitted by the Department of Defence Production, will see Captain Jagmohan take charge for a tenure extending until his superannuation on September 30, 2029, or until further orders, whichever is earlier, as per the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).

An accomplished Naval Architect, Captain Jagmohan is an alumnus of Cochin University of Science & Technology. He holds a postgraduate degree and an M.Tech in Naval Construction & Ocean Engineering from IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur, respectively.

In his previous role as Head of Design at Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers (GRSE), he led the design and execution of several complex warship projects including the Advanced Stealth Frigate, P28 Anti-Submarine Warfare Corvette, Survey Vessel, ASW Shallow Water Craft, and Fast Patrol Vessels for the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard.

With his vast naval and technical expertise, Captain Jagmohan is expected to steer MDL towards greater innovation and strategic growth in India’s shipbuilding domain.
