
In a major administrative development, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the promotion of 30 Odisha Administrative Services (OAS) officers to the prestigious Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The promotions have been granted to fill vacancies for the years 2023 and 2024 under the provisions of the Administrative Service (Recruitment) Rules, 1954, and the Indian Administrative Service (Appointment by Promotion) Regulations, 1955.
As per the official notification, 15 OAS officers have been promoted to IAS for vacancies arising between January 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023, while another 15 have been elevated for vacancies arising between January 1, 2024, and December 31, 2024. The newly promoted officers will be allocated to the Odisha Cadre and placed on probation until further orders.
The notification, issued by Sanjay Kumar Chaurasia, Under Secretary to the Government of India, confirms that the appointments were made in consultation with the State Government. The list of promoted officers includes:
Dharam Hansdah, Rina Mohapatra, Niyati Pattnaik, Maheswar Swain, Mrunal Kanti Das, Srikanta Tarai, Birendra Korkora, Laxman Kumar Mallik, Upama Kalo, Lily Kumari Kullu, Kabindra Kumar Sahoo, Aradhana Das, Pradeep Kumar Nayak, Madhusudan Dash, Premjit Nayak, Narahari Sethy, Jugaleswari Dash, Madhumita Rath, Debasis Singh, Subrat Kumar Panda, Pratap Chandra Hota, Nibedita Mishra, Rega Geetarani Patnaik, Archana Das Pattnaik, Anjana Panda, Nivedita Prusty, Swayam Prava Mohanty, Indramani Nayak, Sudam Charan Mandal, and Girish Chandra Singh.

This development follows the Odisha government’s decision in November 2024 to promote 15 OAS officers to OAS Grade-A (Senior Branch) and assign them new roles.
