In a strategic move to bolster its infrastructure and economic growth, the Government of Telangana signed three Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with Megha Engineering and Infrastructures Limited (MEIL) at the World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos. These agreements, worth ₹15,000 crore, were formalized in the presence of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy, who led the delegation under the banner of ‘TelanganaRising.’
Key Projects to Transform Telangana’s Landscape

The MoUs encompass three major projects aimed at renewable energy and tourism development, showcasing Telangana’s commitment to sustainable growth and job creation.

1. 2160 MW Pumped Storage Project

The most significant of the three agreements involves the establishment of a state-of-the-art 2160 MW pumped storage project. MEIL will invest ₹11,000 crore in this initiative, which is expected to enhance Telangana‘s renewable energy infrastructure. During the construction phase, the project will generate over 1,000 jobs, with an additional 250 positions during operations. By focusing on renewable energy, the project aligns with the state’s vision of reducing carbon emissions and ensuring sustainable energy solutions.

2. Battery Energy Storage System (BESS)
Another milestone project is the creation of a 1,000 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across various strategic locations in Telangana. With an investment of ₹3,000 crore, this project will create over 1,000 direct jobs and an additional 3,000 indirect jobs within two years. The BESS is designed to enhance energy storage capabilities, ensure grid stability, and facilitate peak load management, positioning Telangana as a leader in renewable energy adoption.
3. Luxury Wellness Resort at Ananthagiri
In addition to energy-focused projects, MEIL will invest ₹1,000 crore to develop a luxury wellness resort at Ananthagiri, a scenic destination near Hyderabad. This initiative is expected to create over 2,000 jobs during the construction and operational phases. The resort will promote tourism in the region, contributing to economic growth and providing a boost to the local hospitality sector.
Government and Industry Collaboration
Telangana’s Industries Minister, D. Sridhar Babu, emphasized the importance of these investments, stating that they reflect the state’s commitment to fostering economic progress while adhering to sustainability principles. He highlighted the job opportunities these projects will generate, particularly for local talent, as MEIL plans to conduct campus recruitment drives in Telangana.

Significance of the Agreements
The partnerships with MEIL underscore Telangana’s ability to attract large-scale investments at global forums like the WEF. These projects not only strengthen the state’s infrastructure but also reinforce its position as a hub for innovation, sustainability, and economic growth. The pumped storage project and BESS initiatives are expected to play a pivotal role in advancing renewable energy solutions, while the wellness resort highlights Telangana’s focus on diversifying its growth sectors.
