Vinayak Garg Appointed DRM Central Railway, Nagpur Division

Vinayak Garg, an officer of the Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE) from the 1995 batch, has taken charge as the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Central Railway’s Nagpur Division.


Before this new assignment, Garg served as the commissioner of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS). He played an important role in advancing the organisation’s objectives during his time there. Earlier, he held the position of Chief Vigilance Officer at the India Tourism Development Corporation under the Ministry of Tourism, where he focused on promoting transparency and governance.

Garg’s educational background includes a BTech (Hons.) degree in electrical engineering from Roorkee University, now known as IIT Roorkee. He also pursued a Master in Business Administration (MBA) in Project Management from Sikkim Manipal University.


As the DRM of Nagpur Division, Garg aims to enhance operational efficiency, passenger satisfaction, and freight business growth. He is overseeing infrastructure development projects worth approximately ₹800-1,000 crore, focusing on safety, security, and passenger convenience. Garg also encouraged the Railway Protection Force to enhance their CCTV monitoring system to improve its effectiveness and ensure proactive prevention and detection of incidents.
