Sanjiv Kumar Singh

Sanjiv Kumar Singh has been recommended as the next Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of Hindustan Copper Limited (HCL), a public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Mines. The Public Enterprises Selection Board (PESB) panel finalized his selection during a meeting held on December 18. Currently, Singh serves as Director (Mining) at HCL.

He was chosen from a pool of seven candidates interviewed by the PESB selection panel. The shortlisted contenders included senior executives from leading public sector undertakings such as Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Power Grid, Indian Railways, Cement Corporation of India, Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), and HCL.

An accomplished mining professional, Singh has been with HCL as Director (Mining) since March 26, 2022. He holds a B.Tech in Mining Engineering and an M.Tech in Opencast Mining from IIT (ISM) Dhanbad, along with an MBA in Finance from BIT Mesra. His career spans over three decades, marked by expertise in mine planning, design, statutory clearances, and project management.

Before joining HCL, Singh held senior roles at NTPC Limited and CMPDIL, where he played critical roles in mining operations and tender management. His tenure as CMD at HCL is set to continue until June 30, 2026.
