In a significant reshuffle set to redefine the leadership of the Uttar Pradesh Police, 74 IPS officers have been promoted to higher ranks, including prestigious positions such as SSP, IG, and ADG. These promotions, effective from the new year, span officers across various districts and special units, marking a substantial step in strengthening law enforcement across the state.

Notably, three senior IPS officers from the 2000 batch, currently at the Inspector General (IG) level, are set to advance to the esteemed rank of Additional Director General (ADG). This promotion includes Lakshmi Singh, Commissioner of Police, Noida; Prashant Kumar, IG of the Lucknow Range; and Neelabhja Chaudhary, IG of the Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS).


Also making a significant leap is Dipesh Juneja, presently serving as an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), who will ascend to the ADG rank—a remarkable progression in the state’s police hierarchy.

The promotion wave extends further, elevating six district police captains to the rank of Deputy Inspector General (DIG). Additionally, 20 IPS officers will progress from ASP to Superintendent of Police (SP), while 25 officers from the 2011 SSP batch are set to be promoted to DIG.

In further promotions, 10 officers will advance from DIG to IG, while 15 officers will transition from SP to SSP, reinforcing the top leadership of the Uttar Pradesh Police.


Promotion to DIG
The following SSP officers are set to be promoted to the rank of DIG:

  • Shailendra Pandey, SSP Mathura
  • Sudha Singh, SSP Jhansi
  • Abhishek Singh, SSP Muzaffarnagar
  • Rajesh S, SSP Shahjahanpur
  • Ajay Pal Sharma, SSP Jaunpur
  • Alok Priyadarshi, SSP Fatehpur
  • Rambadan Singh, DCP Gautam Buddha Nagar
  • Hrdesh Kumar, DCP Varanasi
  • Suryakant Tripathi, DCP
  • Tej Swaroop, DCP Lucknow

Promotion to ADG
Three senior IG officers have been elevated to the rank of Additional Director General (ADG):

  • Lakshmi Singh, Police Commissioner Gautam Buddha Nagar
  • Prashant Kumar, IG Lucknow Range
  • Neelabhja Chaudhary, IG Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS)

Promotion to IG
The following DIG officers will advance to the rank of IG:

  • Amit Pathak
  • Jogendra Kumar
  • Ravi Shankar
  • Vipin Kumar Mishra
  • Neelabhja Chaudhary
  • Bharti Singh
  • Gita Singh
  • Yogesh Singh

PPS Officers Elevated to IPS
In addition to these promotions, 24 Provincial Police Service (PPS) officers were promoted to the Indian Police Service (IPS) during Diwali. The promoted officers include:
