Pu Lalmalsawma


The Governor of Mizoram, Dr. Hari Babu Kambhampati, has appointed Pu Lalmalsawma, a retired IAS officer, as the new Chairperson of Mizoram Lokayukta.

Hailing from Gaya, Bihar, Mr. Lalmalsawma brings with him a wealth of experience, having served as a part of the AGMUT cadre since 1983. His distinguished career has seen him hold various positions within the bureaucracy, spanning across Delhi, Goa, Mizoram, and the Central government. Over the course of 35 years, he has occupied significant roles in finance, education, health, SC/ST/OBC welfare, and general administration.

Notable among his assignments, Mr. Lalmalsawma served as the Director of the Ministry of Human Resource Development from 1996 to 2000. Additionally, he played a crucial role in the delimitation of Mizoram Assembly Constituencies in 2005 during his tenure as the Chief Electoral Officer for over eight years. His expertise was further recognized on the international stage when he was selected as one of the four Indian observers for the Palestine elections in January 2015.
