In a significant development, Rajeev Kumar Singhal has assumed the role of Director (Business Development) at GAIL (India) Limited. This transition occurred on Tuesday, marking a pivotal moment in his career within the Maharatna PSU. Singhal, a seasoned professional with extensive experience, previously served as the Executive Director at the same organization.

With a strong educational background as an Electronics and Communication Engineer from IIT BHU Varanasi and a Diploma in Business and Finance from ICFAI, Singhal brings a wealth of knowledge to his new role. His journey at GAIL began in 1989 when he joined as an Assistant Executive Engineer. Over the course of more than three decades, Singhal has held various key positions within the organization, contributing significantly to its growth and success.

Singhal’s expertise spans a wide spectrum of areas within the natural gas industry, including operations and maintenance of gas installations, SCADA/Telecom, LNG sourcing, trading, shipping, marketing, and business development. His portfolio also encompasses vital aspects such as mergers and acquisitions, diversification, renewables/green hydrogen, and more.

Throughout his illustrious career, Singhal has achieved several noteworthy milestones. These include successfully marketing US LNG to six fertilizer plants under a long-term contract, skillfully renegotiating LNG sourcing contracts with partners in Qatar and Russia, leading the acquisition of JBF Petrochemical Limited through the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), pioneering the establishment of India’s first Small Scale LNG project, and acquiring a significant 26 percent stake in Japonica, an LNG vessel company.
