The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, on February 8, approved the request from the Centre to assign the charge of Chairman of Staff Selection Commission to S Kishore.

With this appointment, Kishore, a 1989-Batch IAS officer of West Bengal cadre, has been given a Secretary-equivalent rank and pay by temporarily upgrading the post. Prior to the latest posting, he was serving as Special Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
