
While addressing the Gaurav Diwas celebrations in Jabalpur, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that the state government is looking forward to beginning doorstep delivery of ration in 89 tribal blocks from November 1, the Foundation Day of Madhya Pradesh.
He was addressing the occasion in honour of tribal leaders who were part of the Independence movement. Union Home Minister Amit Shah was also present at the occasion. “Tribals won’t need to visit ration shops by leaving their work. Vehicles owned by tribals will be hired for the distribution work,” the CM added.
Highlighting the works done for tribals by BJP-led governments, CM Chauhan pointed out that it was during the regime of Atal Bihari Vajpayee when a dedicated ministry in the Centre was formed for tribals. He also pointed out the increased scholarship amount for tribal students under the BJP-led governments. Chauhan aid that the previous governments offered scholarships of Rs 200-300 per month for the tribal students. The same was later revised by the BJP government and was increased to Rs 1100 per month.

Also, the CM announced that the government has decided to dedicate a day to tribals and celebrate Tribal Gaurav Diwas on the 15th of November every year. Also, September 18 has been earmarked by the state government to celebrate the martyrdom of tribal leaders Shankar Shah and his son Raghunath Shah, said the CM.
