Union Home Ministry releases guidelines for Unlock 2.0


The Union Home Ministry has released guidelines on what kind of relaxations people would get after June 30 viz with the onset of Unlock 2.0.

The guidelines comprise Unlock 2.0 plan of opening the country in a phased and gradual manner. There shall remain strict enforcement of lockdown in the containment zones, the guidelines coming into effect from July 1 said.

 “The new guidelines are based on feedback received from states and UTs, and extensive consultations held with related central ministries and department,” the government said in a statement.


On Sunday, in PM Modi’s monthly address “Mann ki Baat”, the prime minister had urged the people to be more vigilant in the unlock phase and take necessary precautions, stressing that not doing so will put at risk their lives and those of others.

Services which will remain closed in unlock 2.0

  • Schools, colleges and coaching centres will remain closed till July 31.

  • Metro rail services will continue to remain shut.

  • Cinema halls, gyms, swimming pools, entertainment parks, theatres, bars, auditoriums, assembly halls and similar places will continue to remain closed.

  • No permission for any social, political, academic, cultural or religious function or any other form of large congregation.

  • Lockdown shall continue in the containment zones till July 31.

  • Night curfew shall remain in force, between 10 pm and 5 am, except for essential activities.
