No extension of 21-day lockdown Cabinet Secy

The Press Infromation Bureau (PIB) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, in a tweet today, said Rajiv Gauba, Cabinet Secretary has claimed that the Government of India has no plans to extend the 21-day lockdown implemented on March 24 midnight, as of yet.

The statement from the Government came in response to the rumours and media reports ongoing on various portals and channels stating that the Government will extend the 21-day lockdown period once it ends. The Cabinet Secretary clearly denied the extension  of lockdown and stated such reports as baseless, as per the tweet.

The lockdown was implemented with an objective to control the further spread of the COVID-19. However, post the lockdown was announced, a massive number of migrant workers started migrating back to their villages from the cities which created a havoc at inter-state bus stations, highways and border areas.
