To meet rising water demand, Bhopal civic body to takeover private borewells

Bhopal Municipal Corporation
In an effort to meet the rising demand of water this summer, Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) is set to takeover private borewells in Hoshangabad road area and Kolar, which are faced with acute water shortage.
The Bhopal civic body has been making an all out effort to meet the growing demand of water in the city and is ready to take unconventional steps to achieve its goals.
Bhopal Municipal Corporation has been supplying water to 21 lakh residents of the city, which needs 72 MGD of water every day. Of the total water supply to the Madhya Pradesh capital, 5 MGD comes from borewells.
BMC had earlier launched a GPS tracking system to track a large number of water tankers in its fleet. The system recently helped uncover a diesel scam in the civic body.
