Sri Lanka Blasts


Days after the serial bomb blasts in Colombo, a new bomb was found in the city on Wednesday. The bomb was hidden in a motorbike in the downtown area of Colombo.

Owing to the timely intervention of the local police, the bomb was detonated and the motorbike was also removed. There was no casualty reported.

On Sunday, eight suicide bombing attacks in Sri Lanka devastated the country on Sunday. So far, the death toll has reached over 350 and more than 500 people have been injured. As many as 10 Indians have been killed in the Sri Lanka serial bomb blasts as on Tuesday.


On Monday, a day after the serial blasts, another explosion was reported near a Colombo church. Moreover, as many as 87 detonators were discovered from a bus stop in Pettah.

A national emergency was declared by the Sri Lankan President Mathripala Sirisena from Tuesday midnight. ISIS claimed responsibility of the attacks on Tuesday.
