UPS Madan

UPS Madan, 1983-Batch IAS officer, has been appointed as the Maharashtra Chief Secretary. He is currently the additional chief secretary in the finance department.

Madan was given the additional charge of the chief secretary’s post until his official appointment.

However, Madan’s appointment as the Maharashtra Chief Secretary is awaiting the nod of the Election Commission of India, as owing to the model code of conduct in force for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

He had earlier served as the metropolitan commissioner of Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority for five years before his appointment in the finance department in 2018.

Madan has also served as the Chief Electoral Officer, Maharashtra.

He will succeed DK Jain, who is due to join Lokpal office as one of the four non-judicial members. Jain was due to retire in January, but was given as extension of three months.
