Gujarat gets new CS

June 1, 2015Gangaram Aloria, a 1981 batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre has been appointed as new Chief Secretary of the State. He has taken over from D J Pandian, who is also an IAS officer of the same batch and cadre. Earlier, he served as Additional Chief Secretary, Urban Development Department and held the additional charge of ACS, Home. In addition to it, he has also been the President of Gujarat IAS Association since November 18, 2014.


Aloria had also served earlier as MD of Sardar Sarovar Narmada Nigam Limited and had proved his capability in acquisition of land for canal network.

Pandian had taken over from Varesh Sinha in October 2014 and handed over the responsibility to Aloria on May 30, 2015. However, there were speculations that Pandian would get an extension.
