Kapil Dev Tripathi, a 1980 batch IAS officer of Assam cadre has been appointed the new Petroleum Secretary. His appointment is for a tenure of over one year. Currently, he is Secretary in the Department of Public Enterprises.

Saurabh Chandra, a 1978 batch IAS officer of Uttar Pradesh cadre, who retired on April 30, 2015 will be replaced by Tripathi.
