Now, a Tribal map of India, is  on the anvil to facilitate smooth implementation of different programs for the welfare of the Adivasis. Union Tribal Affairs Minister,Jual Oram, said the Tribal Map of India will be prepared utilizing the technology of Geographical Information System (GIS). This will help the Government while implementing different programmes and introducing new schemes and projects for tribal people.

Oram, was  elected from Odisha’s tribal dominated Sundergarh Lok Sabha seat.  He  said several ongoing programmes, projects and plans aimed at welfare of tribal people and development of tribal areas would be closely monitored through application of Information Technology. Elaborating about the plan, Oram said that it would help to get detailed information regarding different aspects of the programmes and schemes such as status, expenditure, and beneficiaries would be available in the public domain and everybody would have access to it.
