The enterprise segment will benefit the most from fourth-generation (4G) services in the country, considering the high-bandwidth internet capability supported by such services, aver industry experts.  Enterprise segment is fast acquiring one of the focus areas for most telecom operators in India. Market incumbents Bharti Airtel and Vodafone India have already entered the enterprise segment of the Indian telecom market, seeing healthy margins, as compared to voice services. Other notable players in the segment are Reliance Communications and Tata Communications. Multiple corporate applications can connect and work seamlessly using the 4G technology that offers high-bandwidth. Healthcare, education and manufacturing could be some big adopters of high-speed 4G networks.

In fact, bandwidth hungry applications like video based solution, security and monitoring solutions, home automation and healthcare can be built on the top of a 4G network. “Such processes were not possible before. And, therefore it will open up a new market altogether,” say experts.

Sumit Chowdhury, President of Reliance Jio, asserted that good quality of service (QoS) will be the key driver of 4G uptake, in addition to the development of the ecosystem such as availability of affordable handsets etc. He added that better QoS can make peoples’ digital lifestyle seamless, leading to increased adoption of 4G in the country. On cloud services, Chowdhury says telcos can offer a true cloud – totally controllable cloud – wherein network and IT infrastructure can marry together. “Simple cloud providers cannot offer such controllable clouds” .
